About me

I am Claire Jones, a professional medical artist and illustrator and I am fascinated by bodies: how they move and are connected; why they get ill and how they can be fixed. As a visual person I think art is a brilliant and engaging way to explore all of these areas.

After graduating from Falmouth College of arts with a BA (Hons) in Illustration, I qualified as a medical artist and I am full member of the Medical Artists Association (MAA); here I had the tremendous experience of being in the surgical theatre, and attending anatomy sessions. Before this I graduated from with a BA (Hons) in Illustration from Falmouth College of Arts.

I was very exited to be awarded the Ronald Raven Barbers’ Award from the Royal College of Surgeons where I studied facial anatomy and reconstruction and spent time with medical artists in Paris. I have also been awarded a bursary for further study from the Worshipful Company of Barbers. My artwork has been shown at the Biomedical Art Exhibition 2008 in Bologna; the Worshipful Company of Barbers 700yr centenary exhibition in 2008 and the British Institute of Radiology’s ‘Art of Medicine’ exhibition in 2009.
